(3535 South Lumpkin Road), Dr. Brian Schwartz, Professor of Biology at Columbus State University will present  “DNA Testing for Genealogy:  The Latest Trends.”

Topic:    DNA Testing for Genealogy:  The Latest Trends

Muscogee Genealogical Society member Dr. Brian Schwartz teaches Biology at Columbus State University; his specialty is Genetics.  Dr. Schwartz will give us an overview of DNA testing for genealogical purposes and explain the testing options that are available in today’s market.  One of the new varieties he will cover is autosomal testing, which examines DNA inherited from both the mother and father, four grandparents, eight great-grandparents, etc., and provides a breakdown of ethnic percentages and can identify relatives descended from any of your ancestral lines within approximately the last 5 generations.
