Our next meeting is scheduled for Saturday, March 9 at 3pm at the North Branch of the Columbus Public Library.  Our speaker will be Mike Bunn, the Executive Director of the Historic Chattahoochee Commission.  His topic will be “The Battle for the Southern Fronier:  The Creek War and the War of 1812.”

Topic:        Battle for the Southern Frontier:  The Creek War and the War of 1812

The Creek War of 1813-1814 and the related southern campaigns of the War of 1812 are two of our country’s most “unknown” wars. Little understood because of their brevity, relatively small number of military forces engaged and their complexity, these conflicts, nonetheless, dramatically altered the United States’ history. They bought about several far-reaching changes in the Old Southwest, the frontier region of west Georgia, and future states Mississippi and Alabama.  Join us to learn more about these two conflicts that took place not far from Columbus.

This meeting is free and open to the public.  Light refreshments will be served.

*Attendees are asked to park either at Britt David School (just north of the Library) or in the Britt David Pottery Studio parking lot across the street.
