Was Great-Granddaddy a Mason? Learning about your Ancestors’ Membership in Fraternal Organizations

The next meeting of the Muscogee Genealogical Society will be on Saturday, February 27th at 3:00 PM in the Forum Area of the Columbus State University Schwob Memorial Library.

The program is entitled “Was Great-Granddaddy a Mason?  Learning about your Ancestors’ Membership in  Fraternal Organizations.”  Jesse Chariton from the Columbus State University Archives and Jane Brady from the Historic Linwood Cemetery will be the speakers.

This program will have two parts. First, Jesse Chariton will tell us about the Masons and show slides of Masonic materials that are housed in the CSU Archives. Next, Jane Brady will present a slideshow of symbols on Linwood tombstones, with a special look at symbols of fraternal organizations, including the Masons.

Light refreshments will be served before the program.

There will also be a short business meeting, which will include the election of officers.
