Died on board of steamboat, about 70 miles below Columbus, Geo., a few weeks since, Mr. Marvel F. Lewis, formerly a merchant of this town. He was on his return from Havana, which place he visited for his health.

In 1829, he moved to Morgan Co., and held his membership in Madison until 1838, where he removed to Harris, and remained a member in Hamilton until his death.

Mrs. Mary L. Johnson, wife of Calvin E. Johnson, and daughter of James K. Redd, died in Columbus, Ga., April 1, 1867, in the 30th year of her age, having been about fourteen years a faithful member of the M. E. Church, South.

He was born in Wilkes Co., Ga., removed from thence to Green Co., Ga., afterwards to Harris Co., where he resided twenty-five years--thence to Macon co. Ala. He leaves three children, two by a former marriage, James Pollard, Esq., of Hurtsville, Ala., and Mrs. Howard of Hamilton, Ga., and one by his last wife, Mrs. Col. Ramsey, of Columbus, Ga.

Johnson, formerly of Baldwin, but more recently of Monroe county, Ga., where she was raised, educated and married. She was born March 5th 1823, and married Dec. 5th 1843. She was the mother of six children, all of whom survive her.

Mrs. Frances Harriet Jordan, wife of Rev. Junius Jordan, died on the 6th of Nov. 1871 in Eufaula, Ala. She was the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Weyman, born in St. Mary's Ga., 14th Feb. 1814 and educated in Norwich, Connecticut. Removed thence in orphanage to Charleston, S. C., where she spent many years with relatives and was married in Columbus, Ga., 1st Dec 1836. She joined the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, at Glennville, Ala., in 1846.

Maj. Wiley E. Jones was born in Warren county, Ga., and died in Bibb county, near Macon, 16th of January 1872. While a child his father moved to Jones county, where he was reared and educated. He married Miss Wiggins in his 24th year. Soon after, he moved to Columbus, Ga., where he lived for thirty years or more. Col. H. J. Lamar, his son-in-law.

Mrs. Elizabeth Andrews died in Columbus, Ga., July 25th 1872, aged 61 years. She was a native of Rhea county, Tennessee, and moved to Columbus, in its early settlement. In 1828 she was married to Mr. Samuel R. Andrews.

Mrs. Sarah T. Bowers, wife of L. G. Bowers, Esq., died in Wynnton, near Columbus, Ga., May 8th, in the 29th year of her age.

James Arminius Wright was drowned on the 7th of June last, in the seventeenth year of his age. He was a son of the esteemed Rev. Arminius Wright of Columbus, Ga., and was a Sophomore in Emory College. He was born February 6th 1857.

Mrs. Mary E. Hardaway, wife of Robt. B. Hardaway, of Columbus, Ga., died in Lafayette, Columbus county, Ala., September 8, 1873, aged fifty-four years. She was the daughter of Dana and Rachel Hungerford and was born in Harwinton, Connecticut. Soon after her birth, her parents removed to Greensboro. Mary E. Hungerford was married to Daniel Grant, February 19, 1861. Mr. Grant died in Columbus, Ga., November 4, 1864. Mrs. Grant was married to Major Robert B. Hardaway, December 5, 1865.

Mrs. Mary E. Hardaway, wife of Robt. S. Hardaway of Columbus, Ga., died in Lafayette, Chambers county, Ala., September 9, 1873, aged fifty-four years. She was the daughter of Dade[?] and Rachel Hungerford, and was born in Harwinton, Connecticut. Soon after her birth, her parents removed to Greensboro, Ga., at which place and in Columbus and Thomaston, her father was engaged in the mercantile business. She was married to Daniel Grant, Feb. 29, 1861. Mr. Grant died in Columbus, Ga., Nov. 4, 1864. Mrs. Grant was married to Major Robert S. Hardaway, Dec. 5, 1865. She had no children. She united with the Baptist Church in Columbus, Ga.

Miss Lou Fleming died in Louisville, Ga. at the residence of Mr. J. C. Little on the 27th of January, 1884 .... typhoid fever.… The deceased was born in the city of Columbus, Ga. on the 19th of July, 1863, and was in her 21st year. She was left motherless when only six weeks old and was reared by her aunt.

Capt. Geo. E. Walker, a native of So. Ca. and Engineer in the Confederate service, died in Columbus Geo. of sore throat, on the 15th September 1863. Capt'n Walker was a young man, of much energy of character, distinguished in his profession, and is a great loss to his State and the Confederacey. His death was caused from putrid sore throat.

Mr's Catherine Neuffer, died in Columbus Georgia Sept'r 18, 1872. The writer knew her, when she resided in Columbia So. Ca. many years since, before her deceased husband Mr. John Neuffer removed to Columbia. He accidently drowned in the Chatahoochie river.... [clipping] “Mrs. Catharine Neuffer, a native of Germany, but for the past twenty-five years a resident of Columbus, Ga., died on the 18th, aged 75 or 80 years. Mrs. Neuffer was formerly a resident of Columbia, where she had many friends. She leaves two children and a number of other relatives.”

Stephen F. Miller died in Columbus Geo. Oct'r 22d 1873… noticed his decease in the Nashville Christian Advocate hereunto attached. [clipping] “Maj-Stephen F. Miller died in Columbus, Ga., Oct. 22, 1873; aged about 68 years. He was a native of North Carolina, where he grew to manhood, and received his education. Afterward he settled in Georgia in the practice of law… In 1835 he removed to Alabama, settling in Livingston, where he remained untill 1840, when he was induced to take the editorial chair of the Independent Monitor, Tuskaloosa, upon which he removed to that city, where he remained seven or eight years… Major Miller, being a widower, married, several years ago, Miss Jane J. Windsor, of Charleston, S. C.… Bradford, Coosa Co., Ala., Dec., 1873.
