GENETIC GENEALOGY CONFERENCE

January 29, 2009

Founder and President of Family Tree DNA Huxford Genealogy Society, Inc. Members: $20.00 Non-Members: $25.00 Please make reservations by December 1, 2008 This conference will be your ideal opportunity to learn more about the process of obtaining a DNA test, what results can be expected and actually taking a genetic swab (no needles or blood are required for a genetic genealogy test.) DNA kits will be available for purchase during the conference and assistance will be provided to complete the DNA swab. Kits will also be available if you need one or more kits for other family members who are not in attendance. The description of the tests available, and the prices for a test kit and the test are listed on the Huxford Web site. The prices available to Huxford/Wiregrass Georgia DNA Project participants are substantially lower than retail. The Conference will be open to anyone who wishes to attend and will not be limited to the Huxford Membership; however, members will be given the first opportunity to register for this event. After this initial announcement, registration will be on a first come basis. So, call the Library today at 912-487-2310 to register for this important conference. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn about how genetic testing is being used with great success for genealogical research. If you already know you want to obtain a genetic genealogy test, you are encouraged to order your test now, so that you will have test results available before the Conference. A SUITCASE IN GEORGIA

October 1, 2008

Want to hear some interesting Georgia family stories and/or learn a bit about preserving your family archives?

Then come to a program entitled "A Suitcase in Georgia," presented by a Macon family historian named Jennifer O'Kelley. She'll talk about how she found a suitcase full of old letters in the basement of a house she bought in Macon, and what's in the letters. She'll also discuss the need for preserving Georgia's history through the preservation of family papers.
