The Muscogee Genealogical Society is dedicated to the preservation of the history of the original Muscogee County, Georgia area  and its people, as well as the education of individuals in the techniques of discovering their own heritage. The Society publishes the Muscogiana biannually.  If you are researching any counties associated with the original Muscogee County, you may want to consider joining our society. Your membership supports the publication and distribution of our Muscogiana Journal.

The original Muscogee County area consisted of Harris County, Talbot County, Marion County, Chattahoochee County and the current Muscogee County.  The City of Columbus has now incorporated Muscogee County.

It is a shame that people find the need to take the hard work of others and put their own name on the work. Some even go so far as to copyright this material under their own name.  Sadly, this still goes on.  It doesn't give the transcribers a reason to keep doing it, which hurts all of the internet researchers.  It is a real effort (time and money) to obtain the original documents and transcribe them to share with others.  It is a labor of love.  As they say, "No good deed goes unpublished".

This web site is not affiliated with or supported by USGenWeb nor any other government, civic, historical or non-profit organization. This web site is the intellectual property of the Muscogee Genealogical Society and reflects the public information available about this area transcribed and donated to the Society for their use. Please respect the hard work of the many people who have made this information available for your personal research.
