On March 10th at 3PM, the Muscogee Genealogical Society will present the program “Welcoming the 1940 Census” at the Columbus Public Library (Synovus Room A).

Ken Thomas and Callie McGinnis will present a program on the 1940 U.S. Federal Census, which will be released to the public on April 2.

Callie will give a brief, general overview of the U.S. census population schedules from 1790 to 1930.

Ken’s portion of the program will focus specifically on the 1940 census. He will describe what is known about this census and make suggestions on how researchers can prepare to search it.

Before the program, there will be a short business meeting, which will include the election of Society officers for the 2012-2013 term.

Refreshments will be provided by the Muscogee County Friends of Libraries.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information call 706-322-3175.

Co-sponsors for this program are the Chattahoochee Valley Libraries and the Muscogee County Friends of Libraries.
