Join us Saturday, November 22, 2025, 2:15 p.m., at the Columbus Public Library Synovus Room A. The program, “Eldren Bailey: African American Stonecarver,” with speaker Joy Fisher, begins at 2:30 p.m.

Joy Kersey Fisher grew up near Atlanta with parents and grandparents from Talbot County. She developed a love of history thanks to amazing professors in high school and college. Within a year of graduation from UGA, she moved to the Pacific Northwest where she currently resides. Love of history and family converged when she found herself homesick during those first years away. This resulted in many conversations around genealogy with her parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. From years of reviewing Harris and Talbot County census records, deeds and the like while researching family connections, her knowledge of area pioneer settlers and history grew. She has enjoyed conversations with numerous friends of her parents and grandparents who also have longstanding ties to the original Muscogee County area. Currently, she has enjoyed attempting to share what cluster research knowledge she has of the people and the history of this area via photography and writing for various platforms.

Come early for light refreshments at 2:15 p.m.! Program starts at 2:30 p.m.
