Join us Saturday, September 6, 2025, 2:15 p.m., at the Columbus Public Library Auditorium. The program, “Sidestep—Adventures into History,” with speaker Robert Wright, begins at 2:30 p.m. about
Robert Wright is the creative force behind the YouTube video series “Sidestep Adventures into History” and “Sidestep Adventures into Preservation.” In Robert’s words:
“My mother used to take me to old family cemeteries and homesites when I was a kid, and I was extremely interested in the history then—and often they were the types of cemeteries we see now, abandoned and forgotten. An old house I always wanted to photograph, and every time I passed by it I thought ‘I’ll do it next time.’ Then I drove by one time, and it was gone. Bulldozed clean. So that really gave me the drive for preservation through documentation. I began documenting these sites due to seeing so much history disappear in my lifetime. We may not be able to save them all, but we can preserve them in some way.
“I love genealogical research: tracing the people we find and learning about them, and all of the stories that come from them and my own family genealogy of course.”
Come early for light refreshments at 2:15 p.m.! Program starts at 2:30 p.m.
